day 365

Katelyn told Isabella to be at her house promptly at seven-thirty. She didn’t say why, but just told her it was important. When the actress arrived, she was instantly met by the scent of food.

“What’s cooking good looking?” she asked with a smile as she greeted her girlfriend.

“Dinner,” Katelyn said simply, walking back towards the kitchen.

Isabella followed and saw the dining room table was set for the two of them, candles were lit, and wine glasses were full. “Babe,” Isabella started as she looked around. “What’s all this?”

Katelyn turned off the oven and smiled. “I made you dinner.”

“Clearly, but why?”

“Do I need a reason?” she asked sweetly.

Isabella thought for a moment. “No, but this just seems special.”

Katelyn stepped towards her girlfriend and wrapped her arms around her neck. “Maybe it is then.” Isabella furrowed her brows in thought until Katelyn continued. “One year ago, my life changed.”

It was March. It was a year since they met. And Isabella hadn’t even remembered until now. “So did mine,” she said, embarrassed that she forgot to consider this a potential anniversary for them.

“So much you forgot all about it,” Katelyn teased as she turned back around to finish preparing dinner.

“I didn’t,” Isabella started, trying to defend herself. “I mean I did, but only because we’ve had so many other special days since.”

Katelyn smiled. “I know we don’t really have an anniversary so I decided this was it for me. March 3rd is the day that my life changed because I met you.”

Isabella wrapped her arms around Katelyn’s waist. “And I am so lucky.”

The women had dinner together, reminiscing about the day they met. “I contemplated not going about fifteen times,” Isabella admitted. “When I was standing out there, I thought about just getting back in my car and picking up pizza for dinner.”

“Oh, when you were outside smoking?” Katelyn teased.

Isabella rolled her eyes. “Will you ever let that down? I stopped just for you!”

“Your lungs thank you,” she said sarcastically. “I’m glad you were still puffing and contemplating when I went to the door.”

Isabella smiled at the memory. “I honestly only went in because I thought you were really hot,” she admitted. “And when you shook my hand, it gave me such a sensation.”

Thinking back to that moment gave Katelyn chills. The fact that they both felt so much electricity just from a handshake greeting was quite telling about the progression of their relationship. “I was shocked when I saw you standing there. I was terrified to approach you but my legs took me to you before I even realized it.”

“You wanted me already,” Isabella teased. It wasn’t untrue.

She looked at Isabella in awe. “I can’t believe we started there and here we are now.”

Isabella reached her hand across the table. “I’m so happy we’re here now.”

“Me too,” Katelyn said softly, feeling her heart flutter in happiness.

It was a perfect non-anniversary anniversary.
